Congratulations to:- Isaac Beevor on being selected as one of a small team of juniors that will travel to Hungary in early September for a weekend of coaching and tournament play. and Pooja Sharma, who has been asked to represent the Ellenborough club from North London in the Junior Girls British League again this season.
National Junior League:- The North Herts team for this season’s competition contains three members from our club namely - Robert Chapman James Abrams And Barney Ross-Smith. The team is completed by Ryan Barton of the Bedwell club.
Sussex 4* Junior Tournament:- The club had entered three of its players with Isaac Beevor and James Abrams contesting the Junior Boys Singles and Isaac also entering into the Grade 1 singles, whilst Pooja Sharma did battle in the Junior Girls and girls Grade 1 event. As you would expect competition was extremely fierce (to give you an idea, Luke Walsh one of North Herts top premier players was unseeded and ranked only 22nd amongst the boys) but overall our juniors coped well.
In the Junior Boys Singles both Isaac and James failed to make it out of their groups. In the Junior Girls Singles Pooja failed to make it out of her group
In the Grade 1 singles Isaac made it out of his group, won his first round match but in his second round match he lost in 5 to England No 25 (Ashley Facey-Thompson). Pooja made it out of her group, Pooja was finally knocked out in the quarter finals where she lost to Jane Li (England No 1 at Under 13 level) in 5 sets.
